For Kiarostami Art is not something created but it’s all around us.

In the every day of life, we lose the habit of noticing them. The job of the artist is to drive our gaze back to such things. The job of the artist is also to find the right frame to highlight what needs our attention. And by the frames of cinema Kiarostami does this very beautifully, his movie certified copy is putting into screen his idea of how art can be helpful to us as an individual.

There is one simple wisdom he wants to impart

“A good copy is better than the original”

Throughout the movie, Kiarostami in a myriad of different ways drives a simple-looking point that the ideal (original, authentic, art) whether it be in experiences, relationships, or thoughts in life is unachievable for most of us. But one can get immense value by trying to copy or learn from the ideal(art).

How?

Say this poem is Art (it is)

“What a pity

I was not a good host

For the first snowflake

That settled on my eyelid”

-Kiarostami

For me he is trying to highlight the disconnect humans have with the natural world, it also encourages one to try to build a meaningful relationship with the natural still left. Such originals/art enriches our lives and highlights the habits we have either forgotten/ don’t have.
